DUO ILLEGAL
Duo Illegal is assembled by Alessia Hyunkyung Park - soprano and Marija Skender - the piano. The duo is committed to playing musical pieces of the 20th and 21st century. Their goal is to present the music in a new and interesting manner.
Duo Illegal has worked together with Bernd Schmitt, producer, with whom they won the Special prize for "breaking the classical concert ritual", for their stage performance of the piece “Misterys of Macabre", by Györy Ligeti, at the Contemporary Music Interpretation contest in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Since then, the Duo Illegal performed at Schille'sr Prize in 2013, interpreting Bernhard Lang's second movement of the DV9 "puppe/tulpe". In September, they performed in Montenegro, and in November 2014, they cooperated with Nezwerk Neue Musik Baden Württemberg, at the Bus Project.
The Duo Illegal had a remarkable performance at the festival Sommer in Stuttgart - Theaterhaus Stuttgart, on the project named “Confession” in witch they cooperated with Jörg Behr, producer and Musik der Jahrhunderte.
CROSSOVER-PROJECT
Marija Skender combines playing the piano with her second profession, belly dancing. With electrodes and motion sensors attached to her body Marija is controlling electronics by her dance movements..
As thus she invented a kind of new interactive instrument, in cooperation with composers Vincent Wikström, Remmy Canedo and Andres Gonzalez.
